At IHOP, Donnie Wahlberg gives a single mother a staggering tip

A Surprising Act of Kindness by Donnie Wahlberg at IHOP

Given the challenging state of the world, many individuals work tirelessly to make ends meet. Unlike those who exploit others’ generosity, most people strive hard to support themselves and their families. Bethany Provencher is one such hardworking individual.

Bethany, a single mother with an 11-year-old son, moved from Miami to St. Charles, Illinois, seeking a fresh start. With 25 years of customer service experience, she secured a job at a local IHOP and rented a new apartment. However, due to financial constraints, she couldn’t afford to furnish her home properly.
One day, just before the New Year, Bethany’s life took an unexpected turn when a famous couple entered the IHOP where she worked. Donnie Wahlberg and his wife Jenny McCarthy sat in her section. Recognizing Donnie from New Kids on the Block, Bethany was thrilled to serve him, unaware of the significant impact this encounter would have.

After their meal, Donnie paid the $35.27 bill and left a note saying, “Thanks, Bethany, Happy New Year,” with a smiley face. He asked her to wait until he and his wife had left before looking at the receipt. When Bethany finally checked, she was stunned to find a $2,020 tip left by Donnie.

This generous act was a beautiful gesture that surely made a significant difference in Bethany’s life after her move to Illinois.
